IYAZ原名Keidran Jones，从小在英属维尔京群岛长大。出生于音乐世家的IYAZ对音乐创作情有独钟，并且在大学主修数字录音。他很早就展露出了其独具一格的音乐天赋，在加勒比地区广播界开始崭露头角。流行歌手Sean Kingston在myspace上发现了这名之前仅仅依靠笔记本电脑和耳麦进行录音的大学生。起初IYAZ对Kingston的留言表示了怀疑，他不敢相信一位巨星会对默默无闻的他伸出橄榄枝，于是他并未理睬Kingston。但Kingston并未停止对IYAZ的‘追求’，在又收到两三条留言后，IYAZ觉得是时候回应了。不久后，IYAZ与Kingston所在的Beluga Heights制作公司（隶属于时代华纳）签了约，现在两人是形影不离的好友兼音乐伙伴。单曲”Solo”的高潮部分取自Janet Jackson 1993年的冠军单曲“Again”。
